Safahat - Safahat , Mehmet Akif Ersoy'un 1911-1933 yılları arasında yayımladığı yedi şiir kitabındaki şiirleri bir araya getiren eserdir. Eser, Türkiye’de en fazla okunan şiir ve fikir kitaplarındandır. İçerdiği şiirlerin konusu dönemin sosyal sorunları, tarihi ve dini konularıdır. Kelime olarak “Hayatın değişik yüzleri, görünümleri” anlamına gelen Safahat, yedi kitabın da ortak adı olmuştur ancak şairin sadece 1911 yılında yayınlanan ilk şiir kitabı yayımlandığında sırf “Safahat” adını taşımıştır. Şairin daha sonra yayınladığı diğer kitaplar “ikinci kitap”, “üçüncü kitap” olarak adlandırılır ve kendilerine ait alt başlıklar taşırlar. Safahat adı altında bir araya gelmiş kitaplarının alt başlıkları sırasıyla şunlardır: Saahat (1911),Süleymaniye Kürsüsünde (1912), Hakkın Sesleri (1913), Fartih Kürsüsünde (1914), Hatıralar (1917), Asım (1924), Gölgeler (1933). Safahati meydana getiren eserler o zamana kadar ayrı ayrı basılmakta iken yeni harflerle (Latin alfabesi) basılmaya başladığı 1943 yılından toplu olarak tek bir büyük ciltte basılmıştır. Eserin Tevfik Fikret'ten izler taşıdığı görülmekle birlikte bağımsız bir edebi kişiliğin ürünü olduğu kabul edilmektedir. Safahat’in kimi baskılarında Mehmet Akif'in sağlığında kitaplarında yer vermediği bazı şiirleri de eklenmiştir. İstiklal Marşı ise Safahat’da yer almaz. Şair bunun nedenini marşın Türk milletinin eseri olduğu düşüncesiyle açıklamış ve bu düşüncesini “Onu milletime ve kahraman ordumuza hediye ettim. Zaten o milletin eseridir, milletin malıdır. Ben yalnız gördüğümü yazdım” sözleriyle ifade etmiştir
